Does Slinky dog go upside down?

Slinky Dog Dash is a high speed roller coaster using some of Andy's best toys for a thrilling ride through his backyard's tall grass. Though this roller coaster does not turn you upside down, it is a fun and fast ride for the whole family. Height Requirement: Minimum 38? in height.

Slinky Dog Dash, located in Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios, is a family-friendly launch coaster that does not go upside down. Designed to appeal to a broad demographic, including younger children and those who may be wary of more intense "thrill" rides, the coaster lacks any inversions, loops, or corkscrews. Instead, it focuses on smooth "hops," gentle turns, and two distinct launches that simulate the springy, stretching motion of a Slinky toy. The ride reaches a top speed of approximately 40 mph, providing enough excitement for older guests while remaining approachable for anyone who meets the 38-inch height requirement. Because it stays upright throughout the entire duration, it is often a "first big coaster" for kids. In 2026, it remains one of the most popular attractions in the park, typically requiring a Lightning Lane entry or an early "rope drop" arrival to avoid the consistently long standby lines that form throughout the day.

People Also Ask

It's a gentle ride, with turns, dips, and hills providing the excitement and a top speed of 40 mph. No inversions or loops here (Andy wasn't sure how to build those out of his toy chest, I guess). And no free-falls, either.

What is this? If you can only ride Slinky Dog Dash once, I suggest skipping it while it's light out and coming back to it after dark. While there is more to see at Toy Story Land during the day, the nighttime feel is a bit more magical. It's cooler too, or (in the summertime at least) not so hot in the evening.

Fun for the Whole Family Well, almost everyone — it does have a height restriction of 38 inches. Because Disney World doesn't have many coasters, a lot of folks like this ride because it's one of the few thrilling opportunities they have like it. Here we go! But even so, kids can enjoy it, too.
