How can I cancel my Deutsche Bahn ticket?

You can cancel your flexible fare or normal fare ticket online or via the DB Navigator app if you booked it via int.bahn.de or the app. The value of the ticket, minus a processing fee, will be refunded to the means of payment you used to buy the ticket.

To cancel a Deutsche Bahn (DB) ticket in 2026, the process depends on the fare type and how you purchased it. For tickets bought via the DB Navigator app or int.bahn.de, you can take advantage of the "instant cancellation" policy, which allows a full refund for free within 180 minutes (3 hours) of booking, regardless of the fare. Beyond that window, Flexpreis tickets are fully refundable for free until the day before travel. Sparpreis (Saver) tickets can usually be canceled up to one day before the first day of validity for a €10 fee, with the remaining balance issued as a voucher. Super Sparpreis tickets are typically non-refundable after the 3-hour instant window. To cancel, log into your account, go to "My Trips," select the relevant journey, and click "Cancel." If you purchased a physical ticket at a Reisezentrum (travel center), you must return to a DB counter in person to process the refund or exchange.
