How do you ride Tron?

Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter this attraction. A standby queue will not be available. Each Guest can request to enter this virtual queue no more than once per day during regular park hours. Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed.

To ride TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, you must currently utilize one of two digital access methods, as there is typically no traditional "standby" line. First, you can join the Virtual Queue via the My Disney Experience app, which opens at 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM daily; this requires a valid park reservation and quick fingers, as spots often vanish in seconds. Alternatively, you can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane entry, which allows you to bypass the wait for a variable fee (usually $15–$25). The ride itself features a unique motorcycle-style vehicle where you lean forward and pull the handlebars toward you to lock in. Once secured, you are launched at high speeds into a "Grid" filled with neon lights and electronic music. It is a high-thrill coaster with a 48-inch height requirement, and because of the unique seating, "test seats" are provided outside the entrance for guests to ensure they can comfortably fit the restraints.

TRON is by far the most intense coaster in the Magic Kingdom, although it doesn't have any loops or inversions.

The TRON ride vehicles — or Lightcycles — are similar to a motorcycle. Like the vehicles on Avatar Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom, you will lean forward when you board, with leg restraints that come down around the back of your calves. The back of the seat will come down to secure you in as well.

You will lean much farther forward, with weight applied to your knees on TRON. If you have difficulty fitting into the seats on the Avatar ride, you may not fit on the TRON motorbikes. If you fit on Avatar, you still may not fit on TRON.

"All items must be placed either in a locker before you board your Lightcycle, or in a small compartment located on the attraction vehicle that can hold items such as cellphones, glasses or wallets," according to Disney Parks Blog. Here's a TRON tip: keep your phone with you and enable Bluetooth.

These Individual Lightning Lane spots typically sell out quickly, so be ready to rev your engine! Here's the good news: You can experience TRON Lightcycle / Run twice in one day by securing a Virtual Queue and purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane.

TRON does move up and down a fair bit, but there's very little of that “stomach-drop” feeling with your feet leaving the floor. That's for two reasons. The first is that on a Lightcycle your head points down, not your feet. But the bigger reason is that almost all of TRON's rise-and-drop motion includes a turn.

On the main Disney World page for Tron, it's described as having 'Big Drops'. This just seems odd to me, as everything I have read/seen about the ride describes it as fairly tame (minus the launch) with no real big drops, certainly no more than Guardians of the Galaxy which is listed as 'Small Drops'.

Avatar Flight of Passage is a 3D flying simulator attraction within Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Set in the Avatar universe, the attraction allows guests to take flight on a native mountain Banshee and soar across the landscape of Pandora.
