How does Amtrak checked baggage work reddit?

Train side checked baggage means you walk your bag(s) down to the baggage car and give it to the baggage handler. It will be the only type of checked baggage at the station. They will give you a claim ticket. Make sure you have a tag on the luggage with your final destination on it, and one with your address.
