How intense is Gringotts?

Escape from Gringotts is definitely scary. Not only does this attraction feature intense and perilous situations (like you might find in any Harry Potter movie), but the thrills are all the more elevated with the many coaster elements and high speeds throughout the ride.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts at Universal Studios Florida is considered a "hybrid" attraction—part roller coaster and part 3D motion simulator—and its intensity is rated as moderate. It is significantly less intense than the nearby Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure or VelociCoaster. The "coaster" elements include a brief, small drop at the very beginning and some high-speed "drifting" through the cavernous vaults, but there are no inversions (going upside down) and no massive plunges. The majority of the thrill comes from the immersive 4K 3D projections, physical sets, and the way the ride vehicle spins and tilts to face the action. The most "intense" part for many guests is the psychological tension of facing villains like Bellatrix Lestrange and Voldemort, along with some "heat" effects from a dragon. Because it is a family-friendly thrill, it has a height requirement of only 42 inches (107 cm), making it accessible to many children who might be too intimidated by the more extreme outdoor coasters in the park.

Does Escape from Gringotts Have Drops? Escape from Gringotts does have some mild drops and coaster elements. As I mentioned before, these segments are made much more intense by the dark (think Space Mountain and Cosmic Rewind) but don't actually do anything crazy.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is a 3D motion simulator ride that includes short roller coaster sequences. The carts mildly spin between screens, as well. *Spoiler alert: There is a small drop at the beginning, but you can't see how far down it goes, which could trigger motion sickness.

Despite pre-ride warnings about high-speed thrills, Escape from Gringotts is a family coaster that most visitors, other than those with excessive scaredy-cat tendencies, should be able to tolerate and enjoy. It is most certainly not too scary for children.

We rate this ride two out of five hippogriffs in terms of fear factor, simply because it is a rollercoaster. However, there's not much to fear here as you soar across the rather tame track.

Yes you can walk through without riding. There is so much to see and do in both parks for Harry Potter. They have so many little shops you can go in and check out what they have especially if you want to buy a wand. The only problem we had was a friend of mine could not get on the rides because she was a little to big.

Reviewed by KBNC Review Date: 10/24/2021 This ride is great! It's part coaster and part screen ride. There's no way to take it all in the first time, but seeing so many HP characters mashed into one ride is cool. The queue is full of details of Gringotts.

One of my favorites at Universal. The queue is amazing, and the ride is so thrilling. I love that this is a mix of a coaster but has various other effects as well. Even non-Harry Potter fans can appreciate this ride.

If you're a thrill seeker, consider Hosgmeade. If you'd prefer to walk, eat and shop, head to Diagon Alley. In the end, both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade are worth a visit — and with a ticket that allows you to hop between parks, a quick ride on the Hogwarts Express can ensure you experience both Harry Potter lands.

It is intense, but not in a coaster kind of way. As far as the motion of the ride, I think it's less intense than Transformers (I didn't like) or ToT (the drops!), but it's very different... from anything really.
