How long do you keep medallion status?

How the Medallion Year Works: 2022 Medallion Status was earned through flight and spending activity for the 2021 calendar year (January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021); 2022 Status is valid from the day it is earned until January 31, 20231.

In 2026, Delta Medallion status follows a "Calendar Year" plus a "Grace Period" rule. If you earn status at any point in 2026 (by hitting the MQD spending thresholds), you keep that status for the remainder of 2026, all of 2027, and until January 31, 2028. This means if you earn Gold Medallion status in early March 2026, you could technically enjoy nearly two full years of benefits. This January 31st "overflow" month exists to give travelers a chance to complete their first few trips of the new year before the "status reset" occurs. A supportive 2026 reminder: Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) reset to zero every January 1st, so even if you are Diamond today, you must start the "climb" all over again at the start of the new year to secure your status for 2029.
