How long is ferry ride to Toronto Island?

The Ferry Toronto Island takes you to the Toronto Islands, which are located in Lake Ontario. Also often referred to as Toronto Island Park, the islands are only a 13-minute ferry ride away from the city of Toronto.

The ferry ride from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal in downtown Toronto to the Toronto Islands is very brief, taking approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The duration varies slightly depending on which of the three docks you are headed to: Ward’s Island and Hanlan’s Point are slightly shorter trips, while the ride to Centre Island takes about 15 minutes. In 2026, ferries run roughly every 15 to 30 minutes during the peak summer season and less frequently in the winter. For travelers heading to the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, there is a separate, much shorter ferry that takes only 90 seconds to cross the 121-meter gap, though most passengers now use the underground pedestrian tunnel which takes about 6 minutes to walk.
