How many Harry Potter rides are at Island of Adventure?

And Islands of Adventure in Universal Orlando has the most Harry Potter rides, home to four rides. These four rides are Flight of the Hippogriff, The Hogwarts Express, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.

As of 2026, there are four primary rides located within The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure. These include the flagship Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (located inside the castle), the high-speed Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure (the most popular ride in the park), the family-friendly Flight of the Hippogriff coaster, and the Hogwarts Express – Hogsmeade Station. It is a peer-to-peer essential to remember that the Hogwarts Express requires a "Park-to-Park" ticket, as it transports you to Diagon Alley in the adjacent Universal Studios Florida park. While there are only four "moving" rides, the land is filled with "Interactive Wand" stations where you can perform magic, which many guests consider a ride-like experience in itself. If you are a true Potterhead, start your day at Hagrid's immediately at park opening, as wait times for this world-class "story-coaster" frequently exceed 90 minutes even on quieter days.

Yes you can walk through without riding. There is so much to see and do in both parks for Harry Potter. They have so many little shops you can go in and check out what they have especially if you want to buy a wand. The only problem we had was a friend of mine could not get on the rides because she was a little to big.

Universal Studios in California is sometimes maligned when compared to that neighboring iconic theme park in Anaheim (cough cough). But we think a visit to Universal Studios is 100-percent worth the money if your kids are Potterheads. It's the ultimate experience for people who love all things Harry Potter.

If you're more interested in large rides like roller coasters, Universal is going to be your best bet. The same is true if you're a big fan of Harry Potter. If you don't mind some of the more family-friendly rides or you have little ones to bring along, Disney may be a better option.

It really doesn't matter which one you start at, honestly. I tend to feel like most people head to IOA first thing in the morning, because it is a straight shot from the parking garage. I would maybe just hop around both parks on both days, and play it by the crowds. There are great attractions at both parks.

Starting in either park guarantees you a great day — obviously, you're at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you really can't go wrong — but we recommend starting at Hogsmeade, catching the train over to Diagon Alley mid-day, and then coming back to Hogsmeade to finish the night.
