How many people go to Kings Dominion each year?

Kings Dominion is home to 400 acres of attractions and rides. Twenty miles north of Richmond, Kings Dominion amusement park's steel coasters climb to 300 feet and whip many of its more than 1 million annual visitors up to speeds of 90 mph.

Kings Dominion, located in Doswell, Virginia, typically attracts between 1.5 million and 2 million visitors annually. While the park does not always release exact daily figures, industry reports from organizations like the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) show that attendance has remained relatively stable over the last decade, with a significant "rebound" following the 2024/2025 seasons. The park's popularity is driven largely by its world-class roller coaster lineup, including Intimidator 305 and the record-breaking Rapterra (launched in 2025), which serves as a major draw for thrill-seekers across the Mid-Atlantic. Attendance peaks during the "Haunt" and "WinterFest" seasonal events, which can see the park reach capacity on October and December weekends. Following the 2024 merger between Cedar Fair and Six Flags, the park has seen renewed investment in its "Soak City" water park and family areas, aiming to push annual attendance closer to the 2.5 million mark by 2027. It remains one of the top-performing regional theme parks in the United States, serving as a vital economic engine for Hanover County.

It is very hard to sit on the 'available' rides, as the seats are VERY cramped. I had a difficult time sitting on the wooden coasters myself, and I'm fairly thin. A word to the wise: if you're a large person, be very wary about going to Kings Dominion, unless you enjoy sitting outside of the rides.
