How much did CocoCay cost?

Tourism. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., which owns Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, assumed the lease of the island upon acquisition of Admiral Cruises in 1988. In 2019, the island was extensively renovated by Royal Caribbean at the cost of $250 million and renamed Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Royal Caribbean's private island destination in the Bahamas, officially known as Perfect Day at CocoCay, cost approximately $250 million to transform and build. The massive investment, completed in 2019, turned a relatively simple "beach stop" into a high-tech "thrill and chill" water park destination. The budget covered the construction of the "Thrill Waterpark," which features North America's tallest waterslide (Daredevil's Peak at 135 feet), the Caribbean's largest freshwater pool (Oasis Lagoon), and a 1,600-foot-long zip line. A significant portion of the cost was also dedicated to the pier construction, which allows the world's largest Oasis-class ships to dock directly at the island instead of using smaller tender boats. This investment has proven highly successful, as the island is now consistently ranked as the top-rated destination in Royal Caribbean's global portfolio, driving significant "on-island" revenue through cabana rentals and specialty dining.
