The Beast, a legendary wooden roller coaster at Kings Island in Ohio, stands at a structural height of 110 feet (34 meters). While that might sound modest compared to modern hyper-coasters, The Beast is famous for its unique terrain-hugging layout. Because it is built into the rolling hills of the park's Rivertown section, its drops are actually much deeper than the lift hill itself; for instance, the second lift hill leads into a massive 141-foot (43-meter) drop into a dark, double-helix tunnel. Since its opening in 1979, it has held the world record for the longest wooden roller coaster in the world, stretching across 7,361 feet of track through 35 acres of woodland. A 2022 refurbishment even slightly increased the angle of its first drop to 53 degrees, ensuring it remains a world-class thrill for woodie enthusiasts.
