The sensation of speed is amplified by the fact that the coaster is "outdoors" and features two distinct launches—one at the beginning and a second "booster" launch in the middle of the ride. The second launch uses a "pull-back" effect where the Slinky Dog train coils up before springing forward over a series of "camelback" hills. Because the track is elevated and offers views of the entire Toy Story Land, the wind and the heights make it feel more exhilarating for children and casual riders. Tower of Terror includes sudden, fast drops in a dark, enclosed space which may be frightening to some guests. Also, if you bring any bags or backpacks with you, keep them closed and tucked securely between your feet. The drop sequences will cause them to shift around or fly up.
