Is Slinky Dog intense?

It's just doggone fun to ride. Slinky Dog Dash can look as if it's going to be a truly intense experience. The track is elevated, without scenery or props or mountains or anything on either side of it.

Slinky Dog Dash at Disney's Hollywood Studios is considered a "Family Thrill" coaster, meaning it is designed to be exciting for adults while remaining accessible to children. In the spectrum of coaster intensity, it ranks as a "mild to moderate" experience. It does not feature any inversions (going upside down) or massive vertical drops. Instead, its "thrills" come from two smooth launches—the second of which includes a fun "power-up" sound effect—and several "camelback" humps that provide a gentle sense of weightlessness (airtime). The ride reaches a top speed of 40 mph, which is faster than Seven Dwarfs Mine Train but slower than Expedition Everest or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. For 2026 riders, the most "intense" part of the ride is actually the visual height; as you traverse the track "above" Toy Story Land, the views can be a bit daunting for those with a severe fear of heights. However, because the track is exceptionally smooth and the lap-bar restraint is very secure, it is widely regarded as the perfect "bridge" coaster for kids who have outgrown The Barnstormer but aren't quite ready for the high-intensity G-forces of the park's bigger thrill rides.
