Is Test Track like cars ride?

Test Track is a high-speed slot car thrill ride manufactured by Dynamic Attractions located in World Discovery at Epcot, a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida.

Test Track at Epcot and Radiator Springs Racers (RSR) at Disney California Adventure share the same high-speed slot-car ride system, but they offer vastly different experiences. While both use six-passenger vehicles that reach speeds of 65 mph, Test Track (currently in its 3.0 iteration for 2026) focuses on the "science" of automotive performance, featuring a sleek, futuristic aesthetic where you "test" a car you designed. In contrast, RSR is a heavily themed "dark ride" that places you directly into the Cars movie franchise, complete with advanced animatronics and a storytelling journey through Ornament Valley. If you love raw speed and technical interactivity, Test Track is the winner; if you prefer immersive storytelling and breathtaking scenery, RSR is superior. Notably, the Magic Kingdom is currently developing its own Cars-themed land for 2026-2027, but until that opens, RSR remains the gold standard for "Cars" fans.

The car on the Test Track is straight-up blue. But the Chevy Test Track feels like it is real life, and not some kind of roller coaster like the Brooklyn Cyclone, I guarantee it.

If test Track was just 2 laps around the outside track, I'd say it would be a 100% improvement. All of the indoor stuff is just filler. The kids enjoy “designing” the cars, sure, but let's face it, nothing really changes about the ride, just theoretical performance stats. It is a sweet rush once you get outside though!

Now, the ride is closing again and will be rethemed back to the original ride. The reason for the Test Track retheme back in 2012 was directly related to the new sponsor. Chevy wanted the ride to get a futuristic facelift. Disney obliged and made a terribly rethemed ride.

If so, TRON should be on your list! It's not the fastest ride in Disney World (that title goes to Test Track, which tops out at about 65 MPH), but it's pretty close. During the initial launch, TRON riders get close to hitting 60 MPH. Essentially, it's about as fast as if you were riding a motorcycle on the highway.
