The 2km long lazy river & rapids takes a good 20 minutes or so to do a full circle around the outskirts of the park, containing the two towers where all the rides are. There's also a private man-made beach for the waterpark too, so there's plenty to keep you busy all day long.

Paradise Island is known for powder soft beaches and crystal clear, turquoise water, great for diving and snorkeling. Visitors can try their luck at the Atlantis Casino and dine “around the world” at celebrity chef restaurants. Spend the day at Aquaventure Water Park or swim with dolphins at Dolphin Cay.
Atlantis doesn't do “free” well, so by “free” I really mean, you can enter for free, but it's assumed you'll spend money while you are there. Don't expect to access much of the property. Without a Day Pass, you'll likely not be able to get past security to see much of the resort.
If you aren't staying at the Atlantis Resort, but you want to explore all that it has to offer, it is definitely worth it. Since I was staying at the resort, I didn't have to purchase one. I can honestly say that I enjoyed all that Atlantis has to offer and it was definitely worth it!
