As of 2026, there are no designated smoking areas inside Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, or the Downtown Disney District. In May 2019, Disney implemented a comprehensive ban on smoking and vaping to improve the guest experience and air quality within the high-traffic pedestrian areas. This ban includes traditional cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and all electronic cigarettes/vapes. To smoke, you must fully exit the security perimeter and move to designated areas located outside the main entrance gates, typically near the picnic areas or along the public sidewalks of Harbor Boulevard. Note that if you leave the park to smoke, you must go through the security screening process again to re-enter. Additionally, smoking is prohibited in all Disney Resort hotels, including on balconies and patios; violating this can result in a "room recovery fee" of $250 to $500. For guests who require nicotine during their visit, many recommend bringing nicotine gum or patches to avoid the time-consuming process of exiting and re-entering the parks multiple times a day.
