Is Tower of Terror getting replaced?

Disney is going to turn the Tower of Terror into a normal elevator. The new ride will follow the same path as it currently does. However, instead of unexpected rises and falls, it will just be a normal elevator. Guests will still experience the 5th dimension and travel horizontally in their elevator.

Disney does an amazing job setting the mood for the ride with the mysterious queue and 1930s jazz music. However, the much-loved attraction is closing and will be replaced with Dr. Doofenshmirtz Drop-Inator. It's a sad day for many with the announcement that the Tower of Terror is closing permanently to be replaced.

Some little known fact about the tower is that Florida state law requires that a building that reaches or surpasses 200 ft must have an aircraft beacon be placed on top. The imagineers built the building at 199 ft to avoid putting a beacon on, which they felt would detach guests from the illusion of the Orlando hotel.
