Is Tron inside or outside?

Overview of TRON Lightcycle Run at Disney World. First announced in 2017, TRON Lightcycle Run is a thrilling semi-indoor coaster at Magic Kingdom. Based on the TRON franchise and 2010 Disney film, TRON: Legacy, prepare to enter The Grid, a digital world with programmers and users (that's us).

TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom is a "hybrid" attraction that takes place both inside and outside. The high-velocity launch and the initial "energy gate" sequence occur under a massive, color-changing outdoor canopy (the "Upload Conduit"), which is particularly stunning at night. However, approximately 80% of the actual ride experience is indoors within a dark, climate-controlled show building that represents "The Grid." Inside, the coaster features high-tech projection mapping, synchronized music, and neon-lit racing segments against the "Orange Team." For a 2026 traveler, the high-value insight is that while the ride feels like an outdoor experience because of the dramatic canopy, you are shielded from the Florida rain for most of the duration. However, if there is lightning in the area, the ride will still close because the "outdoor" portion of the track is exposed to the elements, making it a high-priority "rope drop" attraction during the sunny morning hours.

People Also Ask

Because the canopy covers the outside portion of the track, TRON is considered a “covered ride” that can operate during rain. Blog Mickey reports that according to Cast Members, it can also operate when there's lightning.

TRON does move up and down a fair bit, but there's very little of that “stomach-drop” feeling with your feet leaving the floor. That's for two reasons. The first is that on a Lightcycle your head points down, not your feet. But the bigger reason is that almost all of TRON's rise-and-drop motion includes a turn.

Overall milder than Guardians. Tron is somewhere in between what you seem to be ok with or not. Lots of fun. It feels fast, but smoother than Big Thunder and Space Mountain.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror If we're talking about the scariest rides at Disney World, I had to start with The Tower of Terror. I mean, it's all in the name! From the ghostly holograms, the 'death' defying drop(s) to the sinister theming, everything is designed to scare the Mickey outta you – and it really does.

The TRON ride vehicles — or Lightcycles — are similar to a motorcycle. Like the vehicles on Avatar Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom, you will lean forward when you board, with leg restraints that come down around the back of your calves. The back of the seat will come down to secure you in as well.

You are seated very easily with a lap bar, and the vehicle is placed at the back of the coaster train. Overall, even though my test experience riding TRON was a little uncomfortable, I'm grateful to have had the option to use the accessibility car.

A big part of the TRON Lightcycle Run experience is the outdoor canopy. Not only does the attraction look better at night, but the story makes a bit more sense. This is definitely one attraction that is superior at night.
