What can you use MagicBands for?

Use it to enter the parks (with valid admission and a park reservation), unlock your Disney Resort hotel room, check in at virtual queue and Lightning Lane entrances and charge food and merchandise purchases to the payment card on file, at your Disney Resort hotel during your stay.

In 2026, MagicBands (especially the newer MagicBand+) are the "all-in-one" digital key for a Walt Disney World or Disneyland vacation. They are primarily used as your park ticket for entry and as your Lightning Lane pass for scheduled attractions. If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, the band acts as your room key and allows you to charge purchases (food, merchandise) directly to your hotel folio with a simple tap. Beyond these basics, the MagicBand+ features haptic vibrations and color-changing lights that interact with the parks. For example, during 2026 nighttime spectaculars like "Happily Ever After," the bands pulse in sync with the fireworks. They also activate the "Disney Fab 50" statues and allow guests to play interactive games, such as "Bounty Hunting" in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. While your smartphone's "MagicMobile" service offers similar entry features, the physical band remains the most convenient way to manage a "hands-free" day in the theme parks.

You can use your phone. Create a Magic Mobile pass within the My Disney Experience app. As long as you're using your phone to only scan in YOURSELF (meaning not you AND the other members of your party), then it should be fine. It might be slower than using a MagicBand, but it still works.
