The Norwegian Prima is the flagship vessel and namesake of the Prima Class, which represents a major strategic shift for Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) toward a more "upscale" and spacious cruising experience. Launched in late 2022 as the first of six planned ships in this class, the Prima is designed to offer significantly more outdoor deck space and higher staffing-to-guest ratios than the previous Breakaway Plus class. In 2026, the Prima Class is celebrated for its "Ocean Boulevard," a 44,000-square-foot outdoor walkway that wraps around the entire ship, and its evolved "Haven" area, which provides an ultra-exclusive "ship-within-a-ship" luxury enclave. At approximately 143,000 gross tons and accommodating around 3,100 guests, the Prima Class is slightly smaller than NCL's largest ships, allowing it to visit a wider variety of global ports while focusing on "boutique-style" amenities like the Indulge Food Hall and the Prima Speedway—the world's first three-level racetrack at sea. This class effectively bridges the gap between mass-market contemporary cruising and premium luxury lines.
