What happens if you cross the Golden Gate Bridge without FasTrak?
If you don't have a FasTrak Account, you can pay your Golden Gate Bridge toll by opening a License Plate Account, making a One-Time Payment, or paying a Toll Invoice.

State bridges and Golden Gate Bridge transactions will be on separate monthly invoices. If you use Bay Area Express Lanes, you must use a FasTrak toll tag, otherwise you will receive a violation notice including toll evasion penalties. For more information, visit the FasTrak Toll Invoice FAQ.
The registered owner will receive a violation notice in the mail (usually within two weeks). Each violation transaction is assessed a $57.50 penalty in addition to the toll amount due. If the registered owner has no previous violations, the penalties will be waived. This is a courtesy for first time violators only.
You have 48 hours to pay after your recent toll crossing, or we will send an invoice for the toll amount to the registered owner of the vehicle. You can set up payment for future toll crossings that you plan to make within the next 30 days.
To check if you owe toll in California, call at 877-229-8655. If you have a FasTrak, you can log into your account and view all the toll hits and the ones you owe. Note: For missed tolls in California, the concerned tolling authority sends a toll invoice to the vehicle owner (usually within 30 days).
Roadside equipment recognizes the FasTrak tag, records the transaction and transmits the information to the FasTrak Customer Service Center to automatically deduct the toll from the account holder's prepaid balance. Tolls are only collected during the posted express lane hours of operation.
