What is the $2 billion theme park in Oklahoma?

A new $2 billion-plus theme park and resort called American Heartland is coming soon to Vinita, Oklahoma, according to a developer press release. The 1,000-acre development, first announced in July, will include roller coasters, an indoor water park, a 300-room hotel and a 320-acre RV park.

The $2 billion project currently under development in Oklahoma is the American Heartland Theme Park and Resort, located in Vinita, along historic Route 66. This massive 1,000-acre development is designed to be an "Americana-themed" destination comparable in scale to Disney's Magic Kingdom or Universal Studios. The park itself will span 125 acres and feature six distinct lands: Great Plains, Bayou Bay, Liberty Village, Electri City, Stony Ridge, and Mermaid Cove. Developed by American Heartland (led by former Disney Imagineers), the project also includes a large-scale RV park called Three Ponies RV Park and Campground, which is scheduled to open as an initial phase. The full theme park is currently projected to open in 2028. The investment is expected to significantly boost tourism in Northeast Oklahoma, bringing thousands of jobs and millions of annual visitors to the region, marking it as one of the largest private tourism investments in the central United States.
