What is the difference between Grindelwald and Grindelwald First?

Grindelwald First is a mountain on the north side of Grindelwald village. It is one of the most popular attractions in the area and offers spectacular views of the Swiss Alps from its peak.

Grindelwald is a picturesque Alpine village nestled in a valley in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It serves as the main hub for hotels, shops, and transport. Grindelwald First (often simply called "First") is the name of the mountain ridge and minor summit located directly above the village, accessible via a 25-minute cable car ride. While the village is a place for living and dining, First is the "Top of Adventure" destination, famous for thrill-seeking activities like the First Cliff Walk by Tissot, the First Flyer zip line, and mountain carts. The name "First" comes from the Swiss-German word for "ridge." Essentially, you stay in Grindelwald to enjoy the town, and you go to Grindelwald First for the panoramic views of the Eiger and the high-altitude hiking trails like the walk to Lake Bachalpsee.
