The TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World (and its predecessor in Shanghai Disneyland) reaches a top speed of 59 miles per hour (95 km/h). This makes it one of the fastest attractions at any Disney theme park worldwide. The ride is a "semi-enclosed" steel launched coaster where guests board unique motorbike-style vehicles (Lightcycles) and are "launched" into the digital world of the Grid. The acceleration occurs immediately at the start of the ride, propelling riders from a standstill to its top speed in just a few seconds as they curve out over the park's entrance path under a massive, color-shifting canopy. While 59 mph might sound modest compared to massive "giga-coasters" at regional amusement parks, the sensation of speed is significantly enhanced by the low-profile seating position, the proximity to the track, and the synchronized "Daft Punk-style" electronic soundtrack. In terms of Disney's Orlando hierarchy, TRON is faster than Space Mountain (28 mph) and Big Thunder Mountain (36 mph), but it is just slightly slower than the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (60 mph) and the Test Track (65 mph) over at Epcot.
