What majors should apply for Disney College Program?

Any CMU student (or Guest student from another institutions) who is at least 18 years old and will have completed one semester before they attend the program can apply online to Disney. Students can range from Freshman- Senior year and be from any major.

Excellent question! The Disney College Program (DCP) is unique because it is open to students of ALL majors. Disney intentionally designs the program to be inclusive, believing that the skills and perspectives from diverse academic backgrounds enrich the program.

However, some majors find particularly strong alignment with the DCP experience. Here’s a breakdown:

Majors with a Direct & Obvious Fit:

  • Hospitality & Tourism Management: The perfect practical application of guest service, operations, and resort management.
  • Business Administration/Management: Learn leadership, operations, finance, and marketing within a massive global corporation.
  • Communications/Public Relations: Excellent for roles focused on guest interaction, storytelling, and media.
  • Theatre/Performing Arts: Ideal for character performers, entertainment roles, and understanding show production.
  • Marketing & Digital Media: See the behind-the-scenes of one of the world’s strongest brands.
  • Culinary Arts/Food & Beverage Management: Directly applicable to the vast food service operations across the parks and resorts.
  • Recreation & Park Management: The core of the Disney business model.

Majors with a Strong, Transferable Skill Fit:

  • Education/Child Development: Incredible for roles interacting with families, childcare centers (like the Kids’ Clubs), and understanding guest demographics.
  • Psychology/Sociology: Deeply useful for understanding guest behavior, teamwork dynamics, and conflict resolution.
  • Graphic Design/Visual Arts: While not doing design work in frontline roles, the immersion in Disney’s world-class environmental design is invaluable.
  • Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical): While not doing engineering
