The traditional paper FastPass and the digital FastPass+ systems have been permanently replaced by the Lightning Lane system, managed through the Disney Genie service. Currently, guests use the Disneyland app to purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass (formerly Genie+), which allows them to select "return times" for various popular attractions throughout the day. For the most high-demand rides, such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, guests must purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass (Individual Lightning Lane) separately. This shift from a free system to a paid, tiered model allows for more precise crowd management but requires guests to budget for the extra cost and use their smartphones extensively to navigate the park and secure shorter wait times.
