What to do if name is wrong on Railcard?

If you need to change your name on your 16-25 Railcard, you will need to call our helpline on 0345 3000 250 to order a replacement.

If you discover that your name is wrong on your Railcard, don’t worry—it’s a common issue and can be fixed. The most important thing is not to travel with a Railcard that has incorrect details, as train companies can refuse it and you may have to pay for a full-price ticket or a penalty.

Here’s what to do, step-by-step:

1. Don’t Travel With It

Using a Railcard with incorrect personal details invalidates it. If checked, you’ll likely have to buy a new ticket at the full non-Railcard price, and you may be charged an administration fee.

2. Contact the Issuer Immediately

How you fix it depends on where and how you bought the Railcard.

  • If you bought it ONLINE from the official Railcard website (www.railcard.co.uk):

    • This is the simplest case. Log in to your account on the Railcard website.
    • Go to “Manage my Railcard” or “My Railcards”.
    • Look for an option to report a problem or request a correction/replacement.
    • You can usually get a free replacement if the error was made during the online application process. You’ll need to destroy the old physical card (if you have it) or delete the old digital card from your app.
  • If you bought it via the Railcard App (Digital Railcard):

    • Open the app and go to the “My Railcards” section.
    • There should be a “Contact us” or “Help” section within the app to report the error. They can often issue a corrected digital Rail
