What to wear to Disneyland when its raining?

Disneyland in the Rain Trip Prep We suggest packing: Rain jackets. Ponchos. Umbrellas.

For a rainy 2026 day at Disneyland, the "pro-move" is Athleisure wear or hiking pants—avoid denim at all costs, as wet jeans stay cold and heavy all day. The best outer layer is a quality rain jacket; while cheap ponchos are available in the park for $12, they often tear and don't breathe well. For footwear, waterproof sneakers or leather boots are better than rain boots, which can cause blisters over 20,000 steps. A baseball cap is essential for keeping the hood of your poncho/jacket out of your eyes and keeping your face dry. To protect your gear, line the inside of your backpack with a trash bag to ensure your dry clothes and electronics stay safe. Bringing a small hand towel from your hotel is also a great 2026 tip to wipe down wet ride seats or outdoor dining chairs. Finally, don't forget a stroller cover if you have kids; keeping the seat dry is the difference between a "magical" day and a total meltdown.

Choosing the right footwear is important for a rainy day at the Disneyland Resort. Unless you don't mind wet and cold feet and socks, pick something that is both comfortable and waterproof. The obvious choice is a good pair of rainboots. Quite often I will wear heavier leather shoes.

You won't see princesses around the Disneyland entrance or Goofy ambling down the street in the rain. While the pre-planned character meet-and-greets will still be happening, don't plan on seeing characters just walking around. It does take away a little of the magic (probably mostly for ME!)
