What were the original rides at Kings Dominion?

Kings Dominion opened May 3, 1975, offering fun and thrilling attractions that included the Rebel Yell roller coaster, Lion Country Safari Monorail, Log Flume, Steam Train and other family attractions.

When Kings Dominion opened its gates on May 3, 1975, it featured a lineup of 15 major attractions designed to establish it as a premier East Coast destination. The "signature" opening day rides included the Rebel Yell (now Racer 75), a twin-track racing wooden roller coaster; the Log Flume (now Shenandoah Lumber Company); and the iconic Eiffel Tower, a one-third scale replica of the original in Paris. Other original attractions included the Scooby-Doo junior wooden coaster (now Woodstock Express), the Lion Country Safari Monorail, and the Skyride, which carried guests across the park's various themed lands like Candy Apple Grove (then called Coney Island). The park also featured a beautifully restored Grand Carousel, which was originally built in 1917 and moved to the park for its debut. These classic rides laid the foundation for the park's identity, many of which still operate today as beloved historical landmarks of the Doswell, Virginia, theme park.
