When did frozen ride open at EPCOT?

Frozen Ever After is a musical reversing Shoot the Chute dark ride in Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort. Part of the Norway Pavilion of the Epcot's World Showcase section, the attraction features scenes inspired by Disney's animated film Frozen as well as the 2015 animated short Frozen Fever.

Frozen Ever After officially opened at EPCOT's Norway Pavilion on June 21, 2016. It replaced the cult-favorite Maelstrom attraction, which closed in late 2014 to make room for the Frozen-themed makeover. The ride utilizes the same boat-based ride system and track layout as its predecessor but features advanced Audio-Animatronics, digital projection effects, and a revamped musical score featuring the original voice cast from the film. On its opening day, the attraction made headlines for having wait times that exceeded five hours, with the line stretching all the way into the China Pavilion. As of 2026, the ride remains one of the most popular attractions in EPCOT's World Showcase, frequently utilized for Early Entry by resort guests. In February 2026, the ride's animatronics received a notable technical upgrade to include the more expressive "electric" eyes seen in the newer versions of the ride at Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, ensuring the visuals remain state-of-the-art for its tenth anniversary year.
