Is Positano a walking city? There are loads of little stairs and steep inclines leading from everywhere to everywhere straight. Alternatively, you can avoid climbing by veering on the main road, but it will take you double the time. You will probably be a little sore after walking around Positano for a day or two.

Prices. Amalfi is more affordable than Positano, being as it's not as popular, but it's still more expensive than Sorrento. You can find good mid-range hotels with rooms starting at around $150 a night, and eat for around $20 in budget restaurants or $35 in mid-priced ones.
One of the lesser-known beaches of Positano is Laurito. Many take the shuttle boat to have lunch in the famous restaurant of Da Adolfo, but fewer people know that you can easily reach the beach from the mainland, as long as you're not afraid of some steps.

While it's safe to drink the tap water, in restaurants you will always be offered bottled water, flat or bubbly. If you ask for tap water, chances are you will be given it, but it's generally considered a request only made by uninformed and/or cheapskate tourists.
Anything goes in Positano, but if you want to be one with the Italians, casual is the way to go. We went to a few nicer restaurants where people were dressed up more, but for the most part, light linens, maxi dresses with flats and casual outfits are most fitting for this gorgeous beach town.
