The most common and accessible place to start your walk is at the Cliffs of Moher Experience Visitor Centre located near Liscannor. This is the central hub where you will find parking, restrooms, and the official paved paths that lead to O'Brien's Tower. However, for a more immersive and rugged "Coastal Walk" experience, many hikers choose to start in the village of Doolin to the north or Hags Head to the south. The Doolin-to-Visitor Centre route is approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles) and takes you along a narrow, unpaved cliff-edge path with some of the most spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands. Starting at Hags Head (Moher Tower) is a shorter and flatter walk of about 5 kilometers to the Visitor Centre. It is important to note that while the official Visitor Centre area has protective walls, the coastal paths from Doolin and Hags Head are completely exposed and can be dangerous in high winds or mist, so proper hiking boots and weather-appropriate gear are absolutely essential.
