Where should I stay to see animals at Animal Kingdom?

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotels, largely thanks to the incredible animals who call it home. The Savanna view rooms are some of the best and most popular rooms at the resort for a reason; the views are outstanding.

To see animals directly from your room, you must stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, specifically in a "Savanna View" room. This resort is unique in 2026 as it is surrounded by four distinct savannas—Sunset, Uzima, Arusha, and Pembe—which are home to over 200 birds and hoofed animals, including giraffes, zebras, gazelles, and ostriches. Within the Lodge, there are two main areas: Jambo House (the main building) and Kidani Village (primarily Disney Vacation Club villas). Both offer Savanna View rooms. If you cannot book a Savanna View, the resort has numerous public "overlook" areas with rocking chairs and fire pits where you can watch the animals for free. Additionally, the overnight "Starlight Safari" is a popular 2026 add-on where guests use night-vision goggles to see the animals' nocturnal behaviors. Staying here provides an immersive African safari experience that is unparalleled in any other North American hotel, complete with educational "Cultural Representatives" who share stories about the animals and their native lands.

Animal Kingdom – 1 Day I could spend 2 days in Animal Kingdom, no problem. But I think conventional wisdom points to most people only spending a day here.
