Between the two flagship roller coasters at Universal Islands of Adventure, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster is the faster ride. It reaches a top speed of 70 mph (113 km/h) during its second high-speed launch, which sends riders 155 feet into the air over a "top hat" element. In comparison, The Incredible Hulk Coaster reaches a top speed of 67 mph (108 km/h). While the difference in raw speed is only 3 mph, the ride experiences are very different: the Hulk is known for its intense, tire-propelled launch directly into a zero-G roll and its seven inversions, providing a "classic" heavy-thrill sensation. The VelociCoaster, which opened in 2021, utilizes modern linear synchronous motors (LSM) for two distinct launches and focuses on "airtime" and smooth, high-speed maneuvers. While Hulk remains a fan favorite for its sheer power and roar, VelociCoaster currently holds the title of the fastest (and tallest) coaster in the park.
