Why is the Hulk ride closed at Universal?

- Universal's Islands of Adventure. Hulk closed so that they could do some much needed maintenance. It hadn't had any major maintenance done on it since it opened. They also redid the track (your feet used to hang and now they are enclosed).

As of March 1, 2026, The Incredible Hulk Coaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure is generally open and operational. Unlike the massive year-long closure in 2015-2016 for a total track replacement, the ride currently only closes for brief, routine maintenance periods or due to inclement weather. Since Florida experiences frequent lightning, the Hulk (which is a massive steel structure) is often one of the first rides to close during a typical afternoon thunderstorm for safety. If you find it closed during your visit, it is most likely a "temporary technical rehearsal" or a short-term refurbishment. Universal typically announces major planned closures months in advance on their official website. For 2026, the park's focus is on the opening of Epic Universe, so the classic attractions in Islands of Adventure are being maintained carefully to handle the surge in crowds.

Hagrids is super smooth, Hulk is intense but I didn't find it particularly jerky (YDS was obsessed so we rode it many many times). Hagrid, Veloci, Hippogryph, Nuthouse, Mummy, and Gringotts are all very smooth. Hulk's outer seats can be a little rough, depends on the wear of the wheels I've found.
