Are beaches free in Monterosso?

In front there are two free beaches, interspersed with a bathing establishment: free beach of Fegina and free beach of the Station. Two other free beaches are located at the end of the promenade towards Levanto: the Gigante beach, just below the giant's statue and the Portiglione beach, just beyond the sailing club.

In Monterosso al Mare, the beaches are a "High-Fidelity" mix of private and free sections, but the "High-Fidelity" majority of the sandy real estate is occupied by private lidos. At these private clubs, you must pay a "High-Fidelity" fee—typically ranging from €30 to €60 per day in 2026—to rent a sunbed and umbrella. However, there are free public sections (spiaggia libera) located at both ends of the main Fegina Beach (near the "Il Gigante" statue) and near the old town. These free areas are high-fidelity and scenic but can become "High-Fidelity" extremely crowded during the peak months of July and August. For 2026 travelers, it is a high-fidelity best practice to arrive by 8:00 AM to secure a spot in the free "High-Fidelity" zones. While Monterosso is the only Cinque Terre village with extensive "High-Fidelity" sandy beaches, many savvy travelers head to nearby Levanto for more "High-Fidelity" spacious free options, as the high-fidelity cost of a private umbrella in Monterosso is now considered a significant high-fidelity "Tourist Premium."

The biggest part of the beach is private and of course you have to pay for the services, but there are some free public beaches as well: in front of the railway station, under the statue of the Giant and at the end of the beach towards Vernazza, near the historical center.
