Can I extend my Railcard?

You can renew your Railcard (digital or plastic) up to 30 days in advance of the expiry date. Click here for the step by step guide on how to renew your Railcard.

If you Railcard expires before the end of your journey then you will need to renew it to be able to complete your trip using expired tickets. If the only Railcard you have is expired you will not be able to continue to use your discounted tickets. Minor delays on some routes - Check to see if your journey is affected.

You will need to click 'Manage my Railcard' on the top right of the website homepage to log in to your account. Once logged in, click 'MY RAILCARD' then click 'View my Railcard' to request a new download code. Your new download code will be generated once you have click 'Get new Download Code'.

You'll just need to be logged into your Trainline account, select the Railcard type you want to renew, confirm your details and then pay for your new Railcard.

If you are aged 26-30 years old and still in full-time education, you can choose whether to buy a 26-30 Railcard, or buy a 16-25 Railcard as a mature student. Mature students who are over the age of 30, can only choose the 16-25 Railcard option and apply as a mature student.

You can renew your Railcard 30 days before expiry, simply:
  1. Log into your account. You will have made this when you first purchased your Railcard.
  2. Click on the Railcard you wish to renew.
  3. Check all the details are correct.
  4. Pay.
  5. And you're done!

You can buy Network Railcard discounted tickets for travel any time on weekends and public holidays or from 10:00am Monday to Friday. You may be able to start your journey a little earlier than 10:00am, see the time restriction easements section for details or check at your local station.

It is possible to add multiple Railcards for different people who are travelling. When the fares are displayed, click on one of the prices to see how much money you have saved with your Railcard. Your total journey cost will include the correct discounts for each of the passengers and Railcards entered.
