Can you get to Toronto Island without a ferry?

The only way to get to Toronto Islands is by ferry, but once you're there, you can choose from watercraft, bikes or walking on your own two feet.

Technically, you cannot get to the main Toronto Island Park area without a boat, but there are alternatives to the standard City of Toronto ferry. You can take a private water taxi (like Tiki Taxi or Pirate Taxi), which is faster and operates from various spots along the harbourfront. For those with their own equipment, you can kayak, canoe, or paddleboard across the Western Gap, though this requires high caution due to heavy commercial boat traffic and currents. It is a common misconception that there is a bridge or tunnel; while there is a pedestrian tunnel to Billy Bishop Airport at the foot of Eireann Quay, it only grants access to the airport terminal on Hanlan's Point. Once you exit the airport, you are on the island, but there is a strict security fence separating the airport from the public park. You cannot simply walk from the airport tunnel into the rest of the islands without taking a small "tender" ferry or having a specific reason to be on the airport grounds.
