By staying at a Deluxe resort, you have access to more hotel amenities (like more restaurant options in your hotel, often more pools, and generally nicer, more spacious rooms). Also because they are Deluxe hotels, guests staying at the Monorail hotels are eligible for Extended Evening Hours.

But, if you take the official WDW transportation bus from a Disney resort of theme park, it will drop you off right between the Contemporary and MK, where you can walk right into the MK gates. You don't even need a ticket into the parks to ride the monorail! Catch a bus to EPCOT or Magic Kingdom and enjoy the ride.
