How do queues work in Volcano Bay?

It's Simple to Hop into the Virtual Line™. You're free to explore the park while your TapuTapu™ wearable counts down the minutes to your return time. When your TapuTapu™ wearable vibrates, it's time to return to your attraction with just a short wait before you ride.

In 2026, Universal's Volcano Bay continues to use a revolutionary "Virtual Line" system powered by a waterproof wearable device called the TapuTapu. When you enter the park, every guest receives one of these wristbands at no extra cost. Instead of standing in a physical line, you walk up to a totem pole at the entrance of a slide and "tap" your band. The device will then display your return time, allowing you to go swim in the wave pool, eat, or relax in the lazy river while you wait. Your TapuTapu will vibrate when it is time to ride. There is also a "Ride Now" feature for certain attractions with shorter waits, allowing you to bypass the tapping process entirely. This system is designed to eliminate the traditional "standing in the sun" experience, although for the most popular rides, virtual spots can fill up quickly. It is a "pro" tip to tap into the ride with the longest wait time first thing in the morning to maximize your day.
