If you are wondering which mountain excursions are 100% included in the Swiss Travel Pass, the answer is: Stanserhorn, Rigi, Stoos, Brunni and Klewenalp. To obtain tickets for any cable car, funicular or cog railway, you should present your Swiss Travel Pass at the ticket office.
The Jungfrau 'Top of Europe' requires a surcharge and in the high season a seat reservation (5 CHF) might be required. Swiss Travel Pass gives you a 100% Discount for the journey from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen/Wengen and Grindelwald.
The cliff walk itself is free, but most people will have to pay to get up the mountain by cable car. I expected the actual cliff walk to be longer and higher than it was. There are some great views however, so it was kind of worth it for that.
From Grindelwald Terminal, you can take the Eiger Express tricable gondola to the Eiger Glacier station. At the Eiger Glacier station, change to the Jungfrau Railway, which takes you through the Eiger and M?nch to the Jungfraujoch ? Top of Europe, the highest railway station in Europe.
Because I get this question almost daily, here is once again an explanation of what IS NOT INCLUDED with the Swiss Travel Pass. Mountain excursions are not included with the Swiss Travel Pass (with the exception of Mt Rigi, Stanserhorn, and Stoos as mentioned above), but you do get a discount on most of them.
The choice is yours! Interlaken is more like a transport hub and it's also a larger town so it has more choices of shops and restaurants just to browse. Grindelwald is a scenic village (still with enough restaurants and some shopping) that is much more scenic than Interlaken.
TIP: If you only have one day for Interlaken and don't know where to start or don't feel like planning everything, there are also nice day tours that you can consider instead. The most popular tours depart either from Zurich or from Lucerne and visit Interlaken and Grindelwald on the same day.
