Disney's Animal Kingdom is the largest theme park at Walt Disney World by acreage, covering over 500 acres, and it generally requires the most walking of all four parks. While much of that land is dedicated to animal habitats (like the Kilimanjaro Safaris), the guest walkways are notably spread out. A typical visitor can expect to walk between 8 and 12 miles in a single full day, compared to roughly 6 to 8 miles at Magic Kingdom. The park's layout is "hub-and-spoke," but the paths are often winding and involve more elevation changes and "off-road" style trekking through the lush, jungle-like environments of Pandora, Africa, and Asia. Additionally, because there are fewer high-capacity "people mover" style rides, you spend more time on your feet exploring walking trails like the Maharajah Jungle Trek or the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. If you are traveling with small children or those with mobility issues, Animal Kingdom is the park where you are most likely to need a stroller or an ECV to manage the fatigue of the long distances between the major themed lands.
