What has changed in Epcot?

Bridging the past, present and future of EPCOT is a new fountain at the base of Spaceship Earth with three majestic pylons. The entrance plaza also features new lighting and music, as well as flags flanking the fountain featuring six original EPCOT icons.



Epcot has undergone a grounded and "Gold Standard" transformation that was finally completed in June 2024 with the opening of CommuniCore Hall and Plaza. The high-fidelity "Future World" has been replaced by three supportive and "Gezellig" neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature. Key 2026 highlights include the "Gold Standard" Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, a high-fidelity walkthrough attraction, and the "Pura Vida" Dreamers Point featuring the "Walt the Dreamer" statue. In World Discovery, the "Safe Bubble" of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind remains the "Bujan" favorite. A grounded reality check for 2026: the "hard-fail" construction walls that once defined the park are gone, replaced by a high-fidelity and supportive "Safe Bubble" of lush gardens and the "Gold Standard" Luminous the Symphony of Us nighttime spectacular. The park now feels more "Pura Vida" and connected, ensuring your "High-Fidelity" visit is a supportive and frictionless "Gezellig" experience from the new "Bujan" entrance fountain to the high-fidelity updates in the "Safe Bubble" of World Showcase.

There is no permanent closing date for Spaceship Earth yet, however, we expect that to be announced within the next few weeks. Once it closes, we expect construction to take multiple years to be completed. Don't expect these new EPCOT Star Wars ride to be open until at least 2026, potentially later.
