Which Tybee Island beach is least crowded?

Tybee Mid Island Beach Mid-Beach stretches from 1st street all the way to 14th. This beach is most used by Tybee locals and families renting vacation homes. It is usually much less crowded than the south or north ends and is an absolutely stunning expanse of shoreline.

The City of Tybee Island's Ocean Rescue provides seasonal Lifeguard Services between April and September, and we encourage the public to swim in life-guard protected areas.

Tybee has life guards on duty during the summer season of May 1 through Labor Day, but not at every beach point, and some beach areas are reserved for surfers while others are off-limits to water recreation due to the dangers of surge and rocks in the water - all of these areas can be seen in our beach maps.

This beach is huge, parking is $2.00 per hour 2 hour minimum. There can be sand fleas but I did not get a bite, one friend may have. The water was warm like a bath, clean and clear. Bath house could have had toilets washed, but otherwise it was basically a clean beach bathroom.

There is a lower risk for sunburn: Anytime the sun is out, you're at risk for sunburn. That said, the sun's rays do not peak until 10 a.m., so early-morning swims are an excellent way to minimize your chances of getting burned. Remember to wear a broad-spectrum, high-SPF sunscreen, even in the morning.
