Why does Universal Studios close at 6pm?

The theme parks are very good at keeping tabs on the numbers of guests and when those numbers are high or low. Universal has chosen to close early during off season; if they didn't they would be out of business because their expenses would exceed their income in off peak months. Supply, demand, capitalism.

We've visited many times in summer and noticed crowds do seem to thin out a bit in the evening as people are going to dinner, leaving with little ones or leaving to change and come back for clubbing. We're not early birds, so we tend to arrive around 11 or 12 and stay until closing.

Hit The Most Popular Rides Early In The Day Even on its busiest days, Universal doesn't start to get crowded until around 11:30 a.m. If you arrive when the gate opens, you usually stand a good chance of getting on at least one (if not two) of the busiest rides relatively quickly.

Stay and scream is a feature of HHN that allows someone with daytime park access to remain in the park, inside a specific gated off area, when normal daytime operations close at 5pm on HHN nights. As of HHN32 guests in stay and scream do not get to roam the park and none of the rides are open.
