Can I add a name to my Railcard?

If you are renewing your Railcard at the station, and changing the name of the second cardholder, then you will need to complete an application form and provide new photos for you and the second cardholder (as a new photocard will need to be issued).

In 2026, you generally cannot add or change a name on an existing individual Railcard once it has been issued. Railcards are non-transferable and are tied to the specific person whose name and photograph were provided during the application process. For "Two Together" Railcards, both named holders must be present for the discount to apply, and you cannot swap one of the named individuals for someone else mid-year; you would need to purchase a new card for the new pairing. However, if a Railcard was purchased for you by someone else (e.g., as a gift), it can be transferred to your digital account before it is first used. If your legal name has changed due to marriage or deed poll, you can contact the Railcard helpdesk with supporting documentation to have your record updated, but adding a "second user" to a single-person card is strictly prohibited to prevent fare evasion.
