Can you do Grindelwald and Jungfraujoch in one day?

It's a longer journey but you can get on the first train to Jungfraujoch. You will travel from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen to Grindelwald. From Grindelwald, ride the Eiger Express to Eigergletscher and then the Jungfraubahn to Jungfraujoch. Travel time is 1 hour and 58 minutes.

Yes, you can absolutely do both in one day, and in 2026, it is more efficient than ever thanks to the Eiger Express tricable gondola. To maximize your time, start early from Grindelwald Terminal and take the Eiger Express, which whisks you to the Eigergletscher station in just 15 minutes. From there, you board the Jungfrau Railway cogwheel train for the final 26-minute climb through the mountain tunnel to Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe). After spending 2–3 hours at the summit exploring the Ice Palace and Sphinx Observatory, take the train back down to Eigergletscher. From here, instead of going straight back to the terminal, you can take a different path down to the village of Grindelwald. This allows you to spend the afternoon exploring the town's "First" mountain area for adventure activities like the Cliff Walk or simply walking through the scenic village streets. For a seamless trip, it is highly recommended to book a "timed descent" for your train ride back from Jungfraujoch to avoid long queues during the peak afternoon rush.
